ALICE IN WONDERLAND (starring Johnny Depp) has its origins as a sometimes muse of writer Linda Woolverton (BEAUTY AND THE BEAST, THE LION KIND, TV). It is NOT the traditional story we grew up to know, but rather the latter adventures of Alice as she is about to enter adulthood, with all the original characters. I recommend the short but gratifying interview on the WGA-WEST On-Line site titled WONDER WOMAN. While it succintly tells of how the story developed, was pitched, and how Burton and Depp became attached, I find it most instructive as she discusses the rich metaphors of this coming of age tale.
